FRC Team 1939, the Kuhnights, competed in the First Robotics Oklahoma Regional Tournament March 4-6, reaching the playoffs and bringing home a creativity award.
Competing against 44 other high school robotics teams, the Kuhnights got off to a strong start in Thursday’s practice matches. During the following days, they made it all the way to the playoffs.
The game required teams to compete in alliances of three, encouraging cooperation and collaboration in the face of challenges. Robots moved balls to a central goal area and climbed towers to score points. The Kuhnights were matched with a team from Oklahoma and a team from Florida in their three-team alliance to take on the challenge.
While the Kuhnights did not advance beyond their first two playoff matches, they did win a creativity award. This award is presented at district and regional FIRST Robotics competitions, and is given to teams with a creative and intentional robotic component, concept or attribute.
The team looks forward to their next competition. They will participate in the Greater Kansas City Regional from April 8–11 at Lee’s Summit North High School.
