Robotics Team Creates App

FIRST Robotics Team 1939 will debut a new student-designed app at the Lee's Summit Robotics Conference on Saturday, Sept. 19.
Members of the scouting team have spent more than a year developing the app, named Scout-A-Lot, for use in robotics competitions. Scouting in FRC competitions is the process of collecting and analyzing data on competing robots. Teams use this information to understand opponent capabilities, plan match strategies, and choose alliance partners for elimination rounds.

Releasing on Google Play in December, the app features match reports and insightful analytics to make scouting  more accessible. The app is just the latest innovation from Barstow's robotics students, who have previously created global open-source sharing guides for teams, coordinated the annual GoBabyGo! Community Build event and earned regional, national and world titles for imagery, design and engineering. 

The FRC competition season takes place in the second semester of the school year, but these student engineers and leaders work year-round from their base at IDEA Space to design, build, mentor and serve the community.
